Child & Youth Counselling in Brisbane Supporting Children with Complex Needs

At WellfirstKIDS, we work with children and teens whose developmental pathways have not been straightforward.

Some have experienced placement changes.

Some are navigating foster or kinship care.

Some are NDIS participants.

Some are simply struggling in ways that don't fit neatly into a label.

Our role is not to diagnose.

Our role is to understand function — and help the adults around the child respond effectively.

We believe children do well when the systems around them understand them well. Based in Brisbane, we're proud to be serving Brisbane families and foster carers across Queensland.

Founder & Counsellor – WellfirstKIDS

I am the Founder and Counsellor at WellfirstKIDS, supporting children, families, carers, and schools across Brisbane with practical, trauma-informed guidance and developmental insight.

My background spans education, child development, and child protection systems. I specialise in supporting children who may have missed important developmental stages due to early adversity, disrupted care, or unmet needs. My work focuses on understanding a child's functional strengths and gaps so that families, schools, and support teams can clearly see what a child needs to thrive.

Before founding WellfirstKIDS, I worked across Queensland state and independent schools in guidance and counselling roles, supporting students from early childhood through adolescence. I have also worked within child safety and family support services, which gave me a deep understanding of the complexities faced by children in out-of-home care and vulnerable family systems.

Who I Work With

I support children and young people who may be experiencing:

  • Developmental delays or missed developmental stages
  • Anxiety, emotional regulation, or behavioural challenges
  • School difficulties or learning barriers

  • Complex needs involving schools, NDIS, or multiple support systems

I regularly work alongside: Parents and caregivers, foster and kinship carers, schools and educators, allied health professionals, and NDIS teams and support coordinators.

  • Trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice
  • Functional developmental screening and insight
